Welcome Back FIU Panthers: Clever College Video

My College Guide loves it when colleges (and their presidents) show off their sense of humor (remember the A Day in the Life of a College President video?). Well, Florida International University has jumped in with a witty musical twist to welcome back new and returning students for the Fall of 2010 school year!

When colleges combine song and dance, well, we just don’t think you can go wrong! Not only do Florida International University students get involved, but so does the college president, Mark  B. Rosenberg! As you might be able to tell from the video, college is all about community! When you finally get in and get settled at college, don’t be afraid to wear your school colors, put on your college shirt, and jump in, even if it means acting silly every once in awhile: it’s all a part of having a fun, memorable college experience!

A Day in the Life of a College President: Macalester College President’s Day Video

My College Guide fell in love with this video after it was released – but with one thing and another, somehow, we neglected to bring it to your attention!  We love this insider’s view of Macalester College or, rather Macalester College President Brian Rosenberg’s view (yes, he did compare himself to Batman)!  Now, if that doesn’t make you want to check it out…we just don’t know you at all!

We just had to dig it up and bring it to your attention (just in case you missed it).  As My College Guide has pointed out again, and again, and again – college is not just studying and seriousness.  Sure, learning is important and you will need to work hard – but it’s not all work, work, work.   As you can see in this video (and all over our blog) the people inside a college bring along personality, humor, and a zest for life.  Watch President’s Day at Macalester College on YouTube (or below) for more proof!

Delaware: The Musical – A New Song and Dance

My College Guide has been waiting for this one!  After we caught wind of the Yale University Admissions That’s Why I Chose Yale Video, we were hoping other colleges and universities would feel inspired and also try their hand at admissions videos and make it all their own – and the University of Delaware definitely did!

The University of Delaware Office of Undergraduate Admissions got everyone involved and we mean everyone!  Delaware: The Musical features members of college admissions, the Provost, the athletic director, UD President, professors, and even a special appearance from Susan Stroman, UD alum and Broadway producer – and a ton of student groups, bands, and choirs composed of past and current UD students!  They all lent a hand in the production of the video — in one way or another!

What’s really neat about this college admissions video is that even University of Delaware hopefuls had an opportunity to send in their thoughts and suggestions on what UD Admissions should include.  You can check out the images of prospective Blue Hen students who sent in their useful tips if you stick through to the credits.  Watch Delaware: The Musical on YouTube — and tell us what you think!
