3 Questions to Ask on Your College Campus Tour
The college campus tour is such an important part of figuring out what college is the best college for you!
My College Guide has a few questions you may want to ask during your college campus tour to make sure that you know all that you can about a potential college.
The College Campus Tour
It’s so important to get a feel for a college first hand. Whether you attend a tour with a large group or it’s just you and your parents, there are some things you will want to know about a college.
College is more than just the classroom! When you are choosing a college, take into consideration what happens on the campus after classes are done for the day. What kind of activities does the campus normally offer?
Are they varied and exciting? Do they fit your personality and what you want out of your college experience?
Questions to Ask on Your College Campus Tour
What is there to do on the weekends?
No two college campuses are alike. Make sure that the college you choose has activities that go on during the weekend too. Do students hang around on the weekend or does everyone rush home? That’s just not an option for every student! See if the college campus lines up with the college experience that you have in mind.
What is the community like?
You aren’t just attending college, you are also (possibly) living in a new place! Make sure that you explore the surrounding city or town and see what it holds. How far away from a store, restaurant, bank, or movie theater are you? Is there public transportation? How will you get from Point A to Point B? And what is the parking like?
How is the food?
Oh, yeah, you better believe this is important! What are the hours at the college cafeteria? If you take on a part-time job, will you be able to eat at what might be an unusual time? What choices will be available to you? If you have special dietary requirements, are they able to accommodate them? How about the location of the dining — is it centrally located? See what your options are and be sure to take notes!
Ask Your Questions
Don’t be afraid to speak up and ask your questions, but don’t spend your visit asking about things that can be found on the college website. Do your research beforehand and use your campus tour time to gain insight into the inner workings of the school.
Afterwards, talk to college students and see what they have to say. Their answers may provide some great tips and information about the school you’re considering!
