Want a Closer Look at Potential Colleges? Look at Pinterest!
Pinterest is for more than recipe making, craft creating, and wedding planning. In fact, it’s really gained a lot of momentum from colleges!
College and universities are using Pinterest as a way to visually inspire future students just like you and offer you a peek at college life before you ever graduate high school.
Pinterest and Professors
In and out of the classroom, college professors often lead the way in adopting new media trends, such as Pinterest, before the rest of the school catches on. Take a look at how some professors are using the platform to inform…and inspire!
That’s the goal one assistant professor at Missouri University apparently set out to prove by pinning top notch examples of branding like packaging, infographics, posters, advertisements, and then some.
In a University of Minnesota class, you can expect to “pin” the items that catch your eye and resonate. This way, your professor can get a better idea of what really rocks your world–and can better know where to point you when inspiration lags.
But to really know a school, well, can you judge a pin by its cover? It’s a great visual way to see a whole lot of a school at once! You know, with real students in real college classes!
Colorado State University
Take a look at Explore Ram Country and really get to the essence of CSU! From gorgeous mountain scenery to images of the new rock climbing wall on campus, students to be can get a good idea of what life at Colorado State University will be like before they ever make the college campus visit!
University of Oklahoma
This school has really hit the nail on the head! Not only is the University of Oklahoma pinning a variety of things across a variety of boards, but they’ve created a board called “Future Sooners” that is, you guessed it, babies dressed in Sooner gear. They are thinking ahead and not only showcasing their current students but future students!
Dorm rooms may be blah and drab at some college campuses but not at Ole Miss–at least not since their appealing boards full of big dorm room ideas! Students can get inspired to turn ho-hum into awesome in their own Dorm, Sweet Dorm.
School Shopping By Pinning? We Think Not
While we wouldn’t suggest using Pinterest as a replacement for the college campus visit, we do see it as a way to get psyched about the place that you’ll be calling “home” for the next four years!
Plus, you may decide to use some of these ideas to spur your own creativity–and to keep yourself encouraged all year long.
